AB 649 Amended

Let's improve services for people with developmental disabilities.us in our commitment to improve services and supports for people with developmental disabilities by focusing on the number one problem in California's developmental services system: worker recruitment,
training, and turnover due to decades of poverty wages.

Key to solving these workforce issues is increased funding for the community system. While the overall spending for services and supports has increased over the years as services paid by the federal government has increased, the relative amount of money from the state general fund has decreased.

This policy must be reversed: As more federal funding is generated, we need to keep all the state money in the community system. This will allow the use of increased revenues for much needed quality and service improvements.

Your help is needed to pass AB 649 by writing letters of support to your legislator, participating in the lobbying effort in January 2004, or taking part in other activities.
